Demi Moore says embracing her age has been ‘liberating’ as she looks forward to turning 60

Turning 60 doesn’t scare actress Demi Moore. In fact, she’s excited by it.

The Ghost actress says that embracing her age has been “liberating” and she’s looking forward to “not being defined by a number” and “being defined by [her] experience” instead when she marks the milestone in November.

“You hit 59 and you’re already thinking, ‘Well, I’m going to be 60,'” Moore, 59, told People. “It feels very liberating. When I think of my grandmother at 60, she in a way seemed to be already resigned to being old. But I feel, in so many ways, more alive and present than ever.”

Moore also opened up to the publication about designing a swimwear collection for inclusive brand Andie, and modelling her designs for the marketing campaign.

For Moore, she says her Demi Moore x Andie capsule collection is designed with the goal of breaking the rules – namely, that after a certain age, women shouldn’t wear certain things.

“It’s changing this idea that women become less desirable as we get older,” she told the publication, which notes the ‘rules’ are outdated.

“We don’t want to look matronly or not feel sexy,” Moore says.

Moore has been sharing glamour shots of herself in her designs to her Instagram these past few weeks, showing off her collection, which she describes as “glamourous” and “vintage-inspired”.

“Creating these pieces was so much fun and I hope you love them as much as we loved making them!” she wrote on Instagram in early July.

Although Moore – who rose to fame starring in shows like General Hospital and a myriad of films – has expanded her horizons beyond acting to designing and philanthropy, that doesn’t mean she’s slowing down her Hollywood projects.

This year alone, she’s starred in two films – Please Baby Please, which was released in January and is about a couple in 1950s New York City witnessing a murder, and The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, released in March and saw Moore star as Olivia Cage, Nicolas Cage’s on-screen fictional ex-wife.

Notably, in 2020, Moore starred in and executive produced the erotica podcast Dirty Diana, a six-episode audio story that explored a dying marriage and how two partners found their way back to each other.

A television mini-series of the podcast, which Moore was nabbed to star in, was also announced that year.
