Johnny Depp’s lawyer Camilla Vasquez drops Kanye West as client over anti-Semitic comments

Kanye West has reportedly been dropped as a client by Camille Vasquez.

Vasquez, who notably was on Johnny Depp‘s legal team and assisted with his high-profile case against Amber Heard, is understood to have informed her firm Brown Rudnick that she was no longer willing to represent the embattled rapper, per TMZ.

West hired Vasquez four days ago, and her change in stance reportedly was due to the Donda artist’s recent anti-Semitic comments.

Although Vasquez has dropped West as a client, sources told the outlet her firm would still be open to working with him if he retracted his statements.

The 45-year-old Yeezy CEO, however, refused to back down, telling the world via an impromptu press conference held outside daughter North West’s basketball game on Friday night, “I want to talk about the Jewish comment, it’s actually proven the exact point that I made.”

“It’s going to take all of us to come together. We gotta get the truth before we can get the love, if not we are just loving the lies,” West said.

Earlier today, it was announced talent agency Creative Artists Agency (CAA) had also dropped West as a client, as West’s estranged wife Kim Kardashian spoke out about the rapper’s comments.

West did issue a half-apology on Piers Morgan Uncensored last week, telling Morgan and his listeners he was “sorry for the people that I hurt with the defcon [comment] – the confusion that I caused. I feel like I caused hurt and confusion.”

Brown Rudnick was reportedly fired by West after it held him to the condition he should apologise.

Per TMZ, Vasquez was supposed to represent West in business matters, such as handling contracts and other deals. West’s partnerships, however, have been hanging by a thread, with Balenciaga dropping him last week officially and Adidas under severe pressure to follow suit.

In an interview with Drink Champs, West boasted: ”I can say anti-Semitic things, and Adidas can’t drop me. Now what? Now what?”

Following West’s initial anti-Semitic remarks on October 9, Adidas did say its deal with West was “under review” but has yet to announce an official decision.

West, whose legal name is the mononym Ye, has been embroiled in controversy since wearing a “White Lives Matter” shirt at Paris Fashion Week on October 2, and following it up with anti-Semitic remarks on October 9.

For his statements, West was restricted both on Instagram and Twitter, and has earned the ire of celebrities such as Bella Hadid, Jamie-Lee Curtis, David Schwimmer and more.
