Another I Know What You Did Last Summer Movie Is Officially in the Works

It’s official: we’re getting another I Know What You Did Last Summer movie. On Feb. 6, Deadline reported Jennifer Kaytin Robinson will be directing a sequel to the popular 1997 horror film, which starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillippe, and Freddie Prinze Jr.

The project will mark the fourth installment in the slasher-movie franchise, which was inspired by the 1973 novel “I Know What You Did Last Summer” by Lois Duncan. The story was also adapted into a TV series on Amazon Prime in 2021, but it was canceled after just one season. Now, Sony Pictures is bringing the franchise back to the big screen.

Although details about the new film are still under wraps, the three previous installments follow a group of teenagers who accidentally kill a man and then dump his body in the water to hide the evidence. They agree never to discuss what happened, but a year later, they’re forced to relive the accident when they receive a threatening letter from someone claiming to know their dark secret. Soon after, they begin getting hunted by a hook-wielding killer.
