Kate Hudson gently corrects reporter who thought she’d won an Oscar: ‘I’m sure it’s amazing’

Kate Hudson had to gently correct a reporter who made an awkward mistake about her career at the Oscars.

During a quick interview on the red carpet, one reporter from ABC US posed a statement to the Glass Onion star: “Kate! You know what it’s like to win an Oscar.”

“I’ve never won an Oscar,” Hudson replied, flashing him a smile.

Surprised, the reporter said, “I gave you one in my head!” to which the star laughed.

Hudson did win awards for her performance, though, taking home the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture and the Satellite Award.

At the time she was only 21.

More recently, Hudson’s film Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay at the Oscars. The trophy ended up going to writer and director Sarah Polley, who adapted Women Talking from Miriam Toews’ novel of the same name.

Hudson, coming from an acting family, does have a mother who won an Oscar young – Goldie Hawn.

In 1970, Hawn won the Best Supporting Actress award for her performance in Cactus Flower. Unfortunately she wasn’t able to bask in the glory of the moment because she didn’t attend the ceremony.

Hawn later revealed she didn’t attend because she truly didn’t think she had a chance at winning.
