America’s favorite Uncle, aka John Stamos as Uncle Jesse from “Full House”, is also one of the sweetest celebrity dads to his son, Billy. The actor has really grown into his role as father alongside his wife, actor and model Caitlin McHugh, whom he married in February 2018. In fact, he’s been quite candid about enjoying first-time fatherhood in his 50s.
“I’m very grateful to the gods or to the universe or whatever that I’m an older father. I couldn’t have handled it earlier,” Stamos joked to Today in 2022. He admitted he wanted kids his whole life and figured it’d come easy since he played a TV father, but the actor noted that real-life fatherhood is “a whole different ballgame.” “It’s the greatest blessing of my life,” he added. “I couldn’t imagine my life without him, but it is challenging to do it right.”
Stamos added, “It just takes so much to be a good parent. It’s about sacrifice, it’s an enormous amount of love, an enormous amount of patience, common sense, teaching them values and what’s right and wrong… and everything’s expensive.” Still, the “Fuller House” star is thankful to be a dad at this point in his life as he said he “would not have been mature enough” any earlier. “I am so grateful that I’m settled, and I’m cool, and I’m sober, and I’m happy with myself,” he said. “I’m happy with my wife, my wife is content, too, and she’s confident. We’re at a place in our life where we should have eight kids.”
