The second half of the year starts with a bang in the Hindi OTT space. While returning champions like Made in Heaven Season 2 amping up viewer’s excitement for the month to come, new releases like The Jengaburu Curse draw in audiences with its unique and intriguing plot. The OTT webseries of the month are all set to give tough competition to the much anticipated theatre releases like Gadar 2. Take a look:
The Jengaburu Curse (August 9)
The trailer for The Jengaburu Curse, India’s first climate-fiction thriller series, was recently released by National Award-winning filmmaker Nila Madhab Panda and the makers. In pivotal roles, the show features an ensemble cast of actors including Faria Abdullah, Nasser, Makarand Deshpande, Sudev Nair, Deipak Sampat, and Hitesh Dave. The series, written by Mayank Tewari, is set in a small town in Odisha and follows the life of London-based financial analyst Priya Das. When her father goes missing under mysterious circumstances, she sets out to find him. When she meets the distinctive Bondia tribe in Odisha, her search leads her to an unfounded connection between nature and mankind. The show tries to address mankind’s insatiable greed and how it affects nature.
Made In Heaven Season 2 (August 10)
Made in Heaven Season 2 promises a deeper exploration of complex relationships, personal struggles, and moral quandaries. Made in Heaven 2 stars the same cast as season one, including Sobhita Dhulipala, Arjun Mathur, Kalki Koechlin, Jim Sarbh, Shashank Arora, and Shivangi Rastogi, as well as some newcomers like Mona Singh, Ishwak Singh, and Trinetra. The brides in the second season will be played by Mrunal Thakur, Radhika Apte, Shibani Dandekar, and Sarah Jane Dias, among others. While Sobhita Dhulipala and Arjun Mathur struggle with their relationships and finances – think debts, business expansion, and divorces – the rest of their team and prospective clients face similar challenges. The highly anticipated show will premiere on August 10th.
Guns and Gulaabs (August 18)
The trailer for Guns & Gulaabs, a web series starring Rajkummar Rao, Dulquer Salmaan, Adarsh Gourav, and Gulshan Devaiah, was released on Wednesday. It appears to be set in the heartland, where cops and gangsters are at odds. The film’s creators, Raj and DK, have billed it as a gangster comedy. An unprecedented opium deal draws a big-city cop and a lovesick mechanic into the chaotic clutches of the cartel-run fictional town of Gulaabgunj.
