Excited to watch A Time Called You? 5 K-dramas you need to binge-watch starring Ahn Hyo-seop

Popularly known for his role as CEO Kang Tae-moo in the 2022 hit series Business Proposal, co-star Kim Se-jong, Ahn Hyo-seop has come a long way in his acting career. He started his career in the Korean entertainment industry as a trainee in JYP Entertainment for the K-pop boy group Got7 but later turned down the opportunity. In an interview, he said, “I loved music, but I didn’t have enough skills, which stressed me out. So I thought it would be better to leave that as a hobby.”

Talking about his acting, he credited his father and said, “My father liked films. I remember watching them with him ever since I was little.”

Now, the actor is all set to star in his new Korean drama i.e. A Time Called You, with Jeon Yeo-been, and Kang Hoon. The series is set to be a remake of the popular Taiwanese drama Someday Or One Day. With this upcoming Korean drama, Ahn Hyo-seop is once again going to make every fan’s heart beat faster with his surreal acting, making us all swoon and emotional for him.

Still 17
Cast: Shin Hye-sun, Yang Se-jong and Ahn Hyo-seop

After slipping into a coma at the age of 17, Woo Seo-ri (Shin Hye-sun), a talented violinist, awakens thirteen years later to find herself at the age of 30. Desperate to locate her missing family, she encounters Woo-Jin (Yang Se-jong), a set designer who is initially uncooperative, and Yoo Chan (Ahn Hyo-seop), the enthusiastic captain of the rowing club at Taesan High School who is determined to help and safeguard Seo-ri.

Although it was not his first appearance, Still 17 became one of the most significant turning points in his career, garnering him recognition from professionals and audiences alike. In an interview with a leading news portal, Hyo-seop said, “I think Yoo Chan and I are very different. I’m not really someone who’s bright and has cheerful energy like Yoo Chan. There’s a part of me that has a pessimistic outlook on the world and a tendency to focus on negative things.” He further said, “So when I first saw Yoo Chan, I was really ambitious and wanted to portray him. I was curious if any changes would occur while portraying him and I wanted to receive that energy. It was a fascinating experience. One day, I was smiling brightly. I could see that I was slowly becoming similar to him.”

Go Se-yeon (Park Bo-young) is a prosecutor, while Cha Min (Ahn Hyo-seop) is a wealthy heir to a cosmetics empire. After dying in separate incidents, they are resurrected in different bodies by a mystical marble. Together, they strive to uncover the reason behind Se-yeon’s demise and eventually develop romantic feelings for each other.

In the series, Ahn Hyo-seop impressed the audience with his charismatic screen presence and
his amazing chemistry with Park Bo-young. For his portrayal of Cha-min, he earned a nomination for Best New Actor at the 12th Korea Drama Awards.

Dr Romantic Season 2 and 3
Cast: Han Suk-kyu, Ahn Hyo-seop, Lee Sung-kyung, Kim Joo-hun, Kim Min-jae and more

Known as one of the most popular medical Korean dramas in Korea, Dr Romantic revolves around a highly skilled surgeon, Boo Yong-Joo who is also known as Teacher Kim. After leaving one of the big prestigious hospitals in Seoul, he ends up in a small-town’s only hospital, Doldam where he becomes a mentor to GS Seo Woo-jin and CS Cha Eun-jae.

The series also continued with season 3, where Ahn Hyo-seop showcased one of the most challenging scenes where he was seen struggling as a surgeon after his hands got injured during an on-site disaster.

In this series, we see many shades of the actor in this drama, his portrayal as Seo Woo-jin truly showed a person’s struggle in not only struggling with a trauma but also living with the sign of being an outcast and struggling through his financial conditions.

His portrayal in the second season won praise, and the show was a tremendous hit. It earned him the Best New Actor in Television Award at the 56th Baeksang Arts Awards in addition to the Excellence Award, Actor in a Miniseries Action/Genre Drama at the 2020 SBS Drama Awards.

Lovers of the Red Sky
Cast: Kim Yoo-jung, Ahn Hyo-seop, Gong Myung, and Kwak Si-yang

A red-eyed astrologer named Ha Ram (Ahn Hyo-seop) loses his sight in a childhood accident. He sets out on a risky journey to exact revenge on the royal family for the terrible incident that altered his life.

Hyo-Seop described his character as “complex” in an interview with a streaming service, using the phrase “unfortunate” to characterise him. He also mentioned how hard the cast had worked on the show. He received the SBS Drama Award for 2021’s Best Actor in a Miniseries Genre/Fantasy Drama for his performance. He also won the Best Couple Award at the 2021 SBS Drama Award with his co-star Kim Yoo-jung.

Business Proposal
Cast: Kim Se Jeong, Ahn Hyo Seop, Seol In Ah, Kim Min Gyu

Based on the same-named webcomic created by Hae Hwa with illustrations by Narak. Business Proposal centres around Shin Ha-ri, a food researcher, who assists her rich best friend, Jin Young-seo, and disguises herself as her to go on a blind date pretending to be her. However, her blind date ends up being her CEO Kang Tae Moo, who pops the question.

Ahn Hyo-Seop has been in a number of dramas throughout the years, but Business Proposal is where his fame really took off. He went on to win the SBS Drama Award for Best Actor in a Miniseries Romance/Comedy Drama for his performance as Tae-Moo, in addition to being featured in countless interviews and dominating social media debates.
