The This is Us cast have said their teary goodbyes to their castmate and friend Ron Cephas Jones who died last month.
Jones, who played William Hill on the NBC drama, was 66 years old when he died August 19 from a ‘long-standing pulmonary issue” according to his representative.
The cast of the family drama series reunited to celebrate the life of their late co-star, sharing heartwarming pictures of the group to their online followers.
Mandy Moore, Chris Sullivan, Jon Huertas, Sterling K. Brown and Susan Kelechi Watson all reunited to “celebrated him as a #ThisIsUs family,” Sullivan revealed.
The actor shared a photo of him holding a pamphlet from what appeared to a celebration of life gathering held on September 17 at the Anspacher Theater in New York.
“Ron Cephas Jones may have been the most self-realised man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing,” Sullivan wrote.
“Ron made his daughter feel loved and safe, by making space for her to fully express and realise HERself. In one memorial, I discovered everything I want to be as a father,” he shared.
Mandy Moore reposted the photos to her Instagram with her own heartfelt message.
“Before the tears, we broke bread. I love this family forever. And we love you, Ron,” she wrote.
Moore, alongside other cast members, had previously shared a tribute for her beloved friend and coworker following the tragic news that he died.

“Getting to know and work with Ron on the wild ride of This Is Us was the greatest gift- he was pure magic as a human and an artist…I will treasure all of the moments forever,” she wrote to Instagram.
Jones’ on-screen son, played by Sterling K Brown, shared a tribute to Instagram, calling Jones “most wonderful people the world has ever seen.”
“@cephasjaz has passed away, and the world is a little less bright. Brother, you are loved. And you will be missed. Keep them laughing in the next phase of existence, and I’ll see you when I get there,” he wrote.
The news that Cephas had died was released in a statement by his representative to People on August 20.
“Beloved and award-winning actor Ron Cephas Jones has passed away at the age of 66 due to a long-standing pulmonary issue,” the statement tragically confirmed.
“Throughout the course of his career, his warmth, beauty, generosity, kindness and heart were felt by anyone who had the good fortune of knowing him,” it continued.
Cephas received multiple Emmy nominations and won twice for Outstanding Guest Actor In A Drama Series in 2018 and 2020 for his performance as Randall Pearson’s biological father, William.
The actor had appeared in Mr. Robot, Truth be Told and Paid in Full amongst others, and will posthumously star as the mentor of Malcolm X, Elijah Muhammad, in the series Genius: MLK/X.
