On October 26, 2007, Imtiaz Ali’s directorial Jab We Met starring Kareena Kapoor Khan and Shahid Kapoor was released. The movie achieved immense success and garnered praise from both fans and critics. Over the years, it has evolved into a cult favourite among enthusiasts of romantic comedies. In a recent interview, Kareena Kapoor Khan disclosed that it was Shahid Kapoor who persuaded her to take on the film.
Recently, in an interview with a leading news portal, Kareena said that she was without work having rejected big films as he wasn’t getting the roles she wanted. “Imtiaz called up Shahid and narrated the film. We didn’t even know Imtiaz because he had just made Socha Na Tha. I hadn’t seen the film, Shahid I think had seen the film,” she admitted.
She further shared that Shahid told her that Imtiaz would approach her for the role and that it was great. “I never knew that it would be this iconic movie. I think Imtiaz always looked at me for that, that you’re not understanding what this character is,” Kareena added.
Kareena revealed that she had also signed up for Tashan during the same period, and she was highly enthusiastic about getting in shape and her appearance for that movie. She was always discussing Tashan and had high hopes for it, thinking it would be a major success. However, to her surprise, Tashan did not perform as well as expected at the box office, while Jab We Met remains one of her most widely discussed and beloved films.
