‘A lot of damn pain’: Teddi Mellencamp has biggest surgery yet for melanoma

Teddi Mellencamp is recovering after undergoing a huge surgery for her melanoma.

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum posted a series of videos to her Instagram story detailing her visit to hospital for what she called her “biggest surgery yet”.

The surgery was successful in removing her 13th melanoma, after her immunotherapy cream treatment didn’t work.

“I’m out of surgery. Now I’m just waiting to be discharged to the nursing facility. It’s pretty painful but I am so grateful that they did such a great job,” the 42-year-old said from her hospital bed. “Whew, that back skin is tight…struggle bus, but I’m hoping they got it all.”

While being transported, she shared another video, telling her followers that she was in “a lot of damn pain but worth it.”

Before the surgery, she also shared a photo of the skin cancer on her shoulder that was about to be removed.

Mellencamp’s husband Edwin Arroyave shared a sweet message to Instagram ahead of his wife’s surgery, commending her bravery.

“As Teddi goes in for the biggest surgery in her melanoma journey today, I just wanted to share how her absolute strength through it all has been nothing short of incredible,” Arroyave wrote.

“I know this battle is close to being won, and I cannot wait to see how she continues to impact every person around her. I love you, Mama.”

Mellencamp later reposted the photo adding, “I love you honey. Thank you for the love and support.”

Two months ago, Mellencamp told her followers that she didn’t want surgery, and instead planned to treat the cancer using immunotherapy cream.

“I was given the option of doing a surgery and having my entire right shoulder’s skin removed and replaced with a skin graft or using this immunotherapy cream,” she said at the time.

“My margins weren’t clear after my last surgery so this is what makes most sense.”

However, the treatment wasn’t successful, and the reality star ultimately had to undergo surgery.

Mellencamp shared she was diagnosed with stage two melanoma in October 2022 in an Instagram statement alongside a picture of her shoulder scar.

“This has been such a wakeup call for me, and I hope to all of you, to love and protect the skin you’re in,” she wrote at the time.
