Swiftmania has not left a single facet of Aussie life untouched, with a new breed of fans coming up to the surface – Swiftie dads.
Research from Spotify and YouGov has determined the new phenomenon that sees 29 per cent of Aussie dads fast becoming the superstar’s biggest listeners, throwing away the stereotype that dads are only their kids’ begrudging chaperones that prefer to only listen to acoustic hard rock.
One in five dads (19 per cent) revealed they are more casual fans, while one in 10 (10 per cent) admit to being full-blown Swifties.

Many of them shared that the singer’s music serves as a tool to connect to their children.
Seventy-nine per cent shared that their children’s music taste impacted theirs, and a massive 91 per cent said the music had a positive impact on the bond with their children.
Furthermore, nine in 10 dads have shared that their new obsession has allowed them to get in touch with their sensitive side, thereby helping them build a bond with their sons and daughters.
One such dad is AFL star Jack Crisp, who took his six-year-old Taylor Swift-obsessed daughter Lilah to one of the Melbourne shows.

“I am as proud a Swiftie Dad as they come. Listening to Taylor Swift with my girls has become one of the great Crisp family pastimes. There isn’t a car ride without a group Karaoke session of Shake it Off, a personal favourite of mine.

It’s no surprise that you will be seeing a tidal wave of dads at one of her concerts, with 25 per cent saying they will be in the crowds – and if not, 76 per cent will play the pivotal role of dropping off and picking up their kids to and from the venue.
