General Hospital actor David Lautman hijacks TV ad to propose to Megan Li Wang

General Hospital actor David Lautman just asked Megan Li Wang to marry him in the cutest way possible; by hijacking an old TV ad they filmed together.

The couple met on the set of the Lenovo ad back in 2022, so Wang was surprised to spot it on her TV again this week.

Thinking the ad was being run again without actually paying her or Lautman, Wang whipped out her phone and started recording.

“Are we not getting paid for this?” she can be heard saying in the clip.

But just as the ad was supposed to finish, it cut back to Lautman on-screen and the voice-over asked if he had “anything else” to say.

“I mean, we kind of just met two days ago at the wardrobe fitting, but maybe future me has something he wants to say,” Lautman said in the ad.

David Lautman recreated the ad to propose to Wang.

A ring box then appeared in his hand, which he ‘threw’ to the real-life Lautman, who proceeded to get down on one knee and propose through giggles.

“We met on this commercial, so I thought it would only make sense if we had an extended version that helped me ask you: Will you marry me?” he told her as he popped the question.

“I don’t know who you are. Yeah, sure,” Wang replied happily.

Both were in stitches as Lautman revealed a cat-shaped engagement ring, which he slipped onto Wang’s finger as the on-screen version of himself watched on.

He later shared the big news on Instagram, posting a shot of their hands with the caption: “She said, ‘Yes.’

“Well, technically, she said, ‘…I don’t know who you are, yeah, sure!’ But we’ll attribute that to adrenaline, shock, surprise and uncontrollable laughter from the proposal.”

Wang shared the video to her TikTok account, where it racked up over 20 million views in a matter of days.

Many users wanted to know how Lautman had filmed the TV ad-turned-proposal, wondering if he’d been planning to pop the question since the day it was filmed.

Taking to the comments, Wang revealed how her husband-to-be pulled it off, writing: ”He re-created the extended cut! Lol”

Even Lenovo, the brand behind the original ad, saw the clip and commented: “You had us worried there for a second.

“A huge congrats to you both! Since a ThinkPad was there at the start of your love story, can we send you matching ThinkPads to help celebrate?”
