Rebel Wilson reveals messages after releasing her memoir: ‘I have had a couple of texts’

Rebel Wilson says her memoir is full of her “most intimate secrets”.

In an interview with Andy Cohen on Watch What Happens Live, the Pitch Perfect star, 44, has opened up about the reaction to her mentioning others in the book.

“I think sometimes when you share your truth it can make other people very uncomfortable,” Wilson said on the show in response to a fan who asked, “Aside from Sacha Baron Cohen, have you heard from anyone else that you have written about in the book?”

“I have had a couple of texts and we’ll have to have some conversations when I’m not promoting the book,” she continued.

“It’s so hard to be so vulnerable and open… I mean, I embarrass myself most of all with stuff that I write, but then sometimes when other people read about themselves they… you know.

“It’s my most intimate secrets and I just thought this is just the final release of them, and being a writer, I just thought I’d put it all out there.”

In the interview, Wilson doesn’t name anyone who has messaged her.

Rebel Rising was meant to be released in Australia on April 3, however, it has since been delayed. Publishers Harper Collins is yet to confirm its new release date.

The delay came days after Baron Cohen released a statement denying allegations Wilson is understood to have made about their time working together on the 2016 film The Brothers Grimsby.

“While we appreciate the importance of speaking out, these demonstrably false claims are directly contradicted by extensive detailed evidence, including contemporaneous documents, film footage, and eyewitness accounts from those present before, during and after the production of The Brothers Grimsby,” a spokesperson for Baron Cohen said in a statement obtained by multiple outlets.

Baron Cohen and Australian actress Isla Fisher have since announced their separation after more than 20 years together.

It’s understood the former couple ”jointly filed to end [their] marriage” in 2023, but did not make the announcement until April 6, 2024.
