Taylor Swift reveals first single of highly anticipated new album The Tortured Poets Department

Taylor Swift has unveiled the first single of her highly anticipated The Tortured Poets Department album to her 283 million Instagram followers. 

The lead single will be the opening chapter of the upcoming album, and it has been produced in collaboration with a top-charting artist. 

Swift took to Instagram to share a photo of herself and Post Malone, explaining that the pair collaborated on the song Fortnight

Taylor Swift reveals the first song on The Tortured Poets Department is with Post Malone

“The first single from The Tortured Poets Department is…………. Fortnight featuring @postmalone 🤍,” the singer’s caption began. 

“I’ve been such a huge fan of Post because of the writer he is, his musical experimentation and those melodies he creates that just stick in your head forever.”

“I got to witness that magic come to life firsthand when we worked together on Fortnight.

“Honestly can’t wait for you guys to hear this song at Midnight TONIGHT and see the video at 8 pm ET TOMORROW.” (10am Saturday in AEST), the caption concluded.

The Tortured Poets Department is Swift’s 11th studio album, set to be released internationally today.

It will be available for streaming at midnight US time, 2 pm on Australia’s East Coast. 

For Midnights, the lead single, Anti-Hero, was released at the same time as the whole album. 

Ahead of the Super Bowl, Post Malone told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in an interview that Swift reached out to him for the collaboration.

“She’s so sweet and so kind and talented, and she hit me up and said, “Let’s do it.’ And I was like, ‘Hell yeah.'”

Though he didn’t discuss the song in any further detail, he did say that he couldn’t wait to hear it.

Lowe asked the rapper, “So, you just rolled in the studio and hung out, and it was a good day?” he responded, “Yes, sir. It was amazing.”

According to the streaming site, the album has 16 tracks, including seven explicit tracks, making it Swift’s most explicit standard record to date.
