‘He’s here with us tonight’: Country music star Kellie Pickler performs for the first time since husband’s death

Country music star Kellie Pickler made a triumphant return to the stage on Monday as she performed for the first time since her husband Kyle Jacobs’ tragic death.

Pickler, 37, performed in Nashville, Tennessee, at a tribute concert for late musician Patsy Cline.

Her late husband wasn’t far from her thoughts, as she told audience members that she thought “he was there with them” on the night.

“It’s the first time I’ve been on stage for a while… my husband and I wrote this song together,” she said about singing The Woman I Am, according to a video shared by Music Mayhem Magazine.

She added: “I know he’s here with us tonight.”

Pickler rose to fame back in 2005 when she auditioned at age 19 for American Idol.

In February last year, Pickler’s life was turned upside down when her husband died by suicide at just 49 years old.

Jacobs was a country music songwriter and vocalist.

Pickler previously told People after his death: “One of the most beautiful lessons my husband taught me was in a moment of a crisis, if you don’t know what to do, ‘do nothing, just be still,'” she said. “I have chosen to heed his advice.”
