‘It kind of jarred me a little’: Kate Hudson reveals she was once told she was ‘too old’ to launch a singing career

Kate Hudson is celebrating her foray into music and the release of her new album, Glorious.

And now the Hollywood star, 45, has candidly revealed that there were some naysayers who once told her she was “too old” to launch a music career.

Speaking on CBS Sunday Morning, Hudson revealed that the scathing remark was made when she was in her thirties, but insisted: “No one tells me what to do!”

“There was someone who said to me, and it kind of jarred me a little, it was in my early thirties and they basically said, ‘It’s done. Past. You’re too old,'” she said.

“And for me it wasn’t just about being a performer, it was about wanting to write music.

“So it kind of resonated for a bit, and then I was like, ‘Nah, f–k you. No, no one tells me what to do!'”

Four months ago, Hudson announced she’s pursuing a singing career, 25 years after making her film debut.

The actress and Academy Award winner, who is known for films including Almost Famous and How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, made the shock announcement on Instagram at the time.

Hudson, 44, who is the daughter of actress Goldie Hawn, said she’d have “creative regrets” if she didn’t pursue her music dream before telling fans she has learned to “be fearless in moves you make”.

“Two and a half years in the making. Lock down reminded me to have no creative regrets in life, take chances, don’t let anyone determine why or when you chose to put art in the world, be fearless in moves you make,” she said in her post.

“And music is my first creative love story that I would regret not sharing. Might be time 💫2024 gonna be fun💫.”

Hudson shared a clip of herself singing the Song With A Little Help From My Friends by Joe Cocker.
