It’s officially Benedict Bridgerton’s time to find love: Here’s what to know about Bridgerton’s highly-anticipated fourth season

Benedict Bridgerton‘s time has come to enter the marriage mart on the steamy Regency-era series Bridgerton.

According to a Netflix announcement published overnight, the upcoming fourth season of the series will focus on Benedict, the “bohemian second son” of the titular family, who is played by Luke Thompson.

“Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married,” the season four logline reads, “Benedict is loath to settle down – until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”

Thompson said in the announcement that while Benedict has always been a bit lost, “or free depending on the way you want to look at it,” he’s now trying to find something “a bit more solid in himself” in the upcoming season.

Showrunners Shonda Rhimes and Jess Brownell both said that they’re “excited” for the world to see Benedict’s story play out in season four, which will unfold in an eight-episode season.

“It felt important for him to explore the fullness of himself before he settles down,” Brownell said.

“He is someone who has big appetites, and we wanted to see him living a big life before he goes into settle-down mode,” she continued.

Season three of Bridgerton focused on Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan) and Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton). Now married, season four will showcase how the lovebirds handle married life.

In an interview with 9honey Celebrity ahead of the third season’s premiere earlier this year, Coughlan and Newton opened up about how they prepared to lead the streamer’s history-making drama.

”It’s a lot, you know, it’s terrifying,” Coughlan said in Bowral, New South Wales. “It’s eight months of shooting, it’s just exhausting at times, relentless, it’s wonderful, but it is a real labour of love.”

“I keep using a sports analogy for this and it’s hilarious because I know nothing about sports, but I really feel like we left it all on the pitch,” the 37-year-old actress continued.

“I don’t think we could have done any more, and watching it back I feel that.”

A release date for Bridgerton‘s fourth season has not yet been announced.
