Adut Akech is pregnant with her first child.
The South Sudanese-Australian supermodel, 24, announced she is expecting a child with partner Samuel Elkhier and is only ten weeks away from her due date.
Sharing the news with Vogue, Akech says she knows she is below the average age for first-time mothers but wants a small age gap with her baby.

“I always said I wanted to be a young mom because I love the idea of growing up with your kids,” Akech told the outlet, sharing that her mother had her at 20 and it gave them a tight-knit relationship.
“The age difference plays a huge role in how close we are.”

Akech confessed she was busy working when she noticed she was exhausted and craving orange slices.
“I was picking up my car from the service centre – with my bag of oranges! – and when driving back home, I started feeling like I was going to throw up,” she recalled.

The model then took five pregnancy tests that were all positive, providing an update on how she felt about expecting: “I’m excited. I can’t wait. I’m like – can they just come already? I’m kind of over it and I’m just halfway.”
Akech added that pregnancy has been “a beautiful feeling, but a mental and physical rollercoaster. Nothing really ever prepares you for it.”
Taking to Instagram, Akech announced the news to her followers: “Beyond BLESSED, GRATEFUL and CANNOT wait to meet our bundle of joy!!! 🤰🏿🤍🥰🤞🏾,” she wrote.
The model’s partner Elkhier also commented on her Instagram post, “Can’t wait to meet our little one! 🥹.”
