The Sopranos star Jamie-Lynn Sigler has shared a terrifying health scare where she feared for her 10-year-old son’s life.
On her podcast MeSsy, Sigler, 42, revealed her son Beau was diagnosed with a rare neurological response to a virus called acute disseminated encephalomyelitis (ADEM).
Sigler said Beau was admitted to the ICU and has been in hospital for four weeks now after they initially thought he had a virus.

The actress opened up to her co-host Christina Applegate about the harrowing experience in their latest episode The Power of Beau.
“It was and has been like the darkest hardest, most f—-ed up thing I’ve ever been through,” The Sopranos star tearfully told her co-host.
The star began the episode by recalling she “knew something wasn’t right” when Beau spiked a 105 degree fahrenheit (40.5 degree celcius) fever and had bad head pain.
The 10-year-old was taken to the hospital multiple times but sent home.
After being taken to the emergency room from an appointment with Infectious Diseases, Sigler recalled Beau “screaming through morphine” because he was in so much pain.
“Every time you would get a little bit of good news, you would get slapped in the face with something else”, she shared.

Sigler said Beau was given a catheter and underwent more body scans before doctors thought he had ADEM, which she was told compared in rarity to being struck by lightening.
The actress explained ADEM is a rare neurological immune response to a virus.
At one point, Sigler got very emotional speaking about how her son used to tell her he wished he could take away her pain from suffering with MS since she was 20.

While suffering with bladder, fix flexors and feet issues, Sigler recalled thinking her son was indeed “taking away my pain”.
In a separate Instagram post, Sigler confirmed Beau – who is still in hospital – has ADEM.
The actress admitted she has “never felt more broken” but praised her friends and family for their incredible support.
Sigler is best known for starring on The Sopranos from 1999 until 2007. She then began her podcast with fellow Multiple Sclerosis battler Christina Applegate in 2024.
