Eva Mendes reveals why she’s hesitant to return to Hollywood

Eva Mendes, 50, has opened up about whether she’ll ever return to the big screen.

The actress was at the height of her film career in the late ’00s before she left acting.

In 2012, she starred in the film The Place Beyond the Pines alongside her now real-life partner Ryan Gosling.

Mendes took a step back from Hollywood to raise her and Gosling’s two daughters while he continued acting, admitting earlier this year the decision had been a “no-brainer”.

But in a new interview with Good Morning America host George Stephanopoulos, the star answered if she’ll make a comeback to acting amid her long hiatus.

“‘I don’t know,” Mendes told Stephanopoulos.

“If there’s interesting roles.”

The star recently made a minor return to TV with a voice role in a 2024 Bluey episode.

“I left at a time where it was ten years ago,” Mendes continued.

“I kind of felt like I did it, you know?” the actress continued before speaking of her role alongside Gosling in 2012 as a highlight in her career.

“I was like, ‘I just worked with Ryan Gosling, who is the best’. It was such a high off my career to work with him and what we created together that I was like, ‘This is a good time to Seinfeld it and just walk out’,” she told Stephanopoulos.

Mendes concluded by leaving it up in the air, teasing “who knows” if she’ll return.

The star told Today earlier this year she and Gosling had a “non-verbal agreement” she would stay at home to look after their daughters Esmerelda, 10, and Amada, seven.

In recent years Mendes has stayed largely out of the limelight, opting not to attend red carpet events with her reported husband Gosling.

After being absent from the Barbie press tour in 2023, Mendes said in the comments section on an Instagram post that the pair “don’t do those things together”.

“By ‘not comfortable,’ I mean exposing our very private life that we value. I’m still dying to do another movie with him though…♥️,” she said.
