Filmmaker Subhash Ghai, Tina Ambani and Simmi Garewal celebrated 45 years of the Iconic film Karz with a special event for the film. Subhash Ghai honoured the cast with a trophy. Ghai said that the film’s lead actor late Rishi Kapoor and Neetu Kapoor are like family to him. Neetu shared that she was dating the lead actor during the making of the film. She recalled, “I started dating him when this film was being made, and by the time the film got released we were married. I remember we got married in January 1980 and this film was released in June.”
Subhash Ghai intervened and said, “If you work in my film, you date and you get married.”

The lead actress of Karz, Tina Ambani, who was present at the event said, “It’s been 45 years of Karz. Time flies by in the blink of an eye. It’s such a beautiful film. I’m glad I got to be part of this iconic film, talented director, wonderful co-stars, I miss the charming Chintu (Rishi Kapoor). It was an experience of a lifetime. It never felt like we were making a film. I played myself and I loved playing the part.”
Subhash Ghai who gave many blockbusters in 80’s and 90’s shared how Simmi Garewal was apprehensive about her character named Kamini. He shared, “Simmi had a tough role in Karz, initially she was apprehensive about playing the role. I remember she asked me, ‘Subhash ji, will I become a vamp?’, I assured her that she is a great actor.”
The veteran actress SIMI GarewaI smiled and said, “I never thought that we will be back after 45 years of this film. It was a wonderful experience working on Karz. I was happy to work with Chintu, who is my old pal, and my love, Tina was so adorable, and we became friends. Neetu has been an amazing woman, I love the way she has handled her life, her husband, children, and how her grandchild.”

The veteran actress who is known for her role in Mera Naam Joker (1970) further added, “Subhash ji had passion for this film, it was like a fire burning in him, and that fire kindled flames within us, and he gave his all to the film, and made us give all to the film. In our industry, when people get success, they have fame, and power, it’s a golden key to the world, and very few give back to the industry, but Subhash ji is doing this with Whistling Woods, who are taking forward his legacy.”
Karz is a romantic thriller which is considered as a cult classic.
