Ed Sheeran to collaborate with Arijit Singh on his new album Play

English singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has just released Azizam, the latest track from his upcoming album, Play. But what has truly captured fans’ attention, especially in India, is the revelation that Sheeran has teamed up with none other than the legendary Arijit Singh for the album. During his recent tour of India, Ed opened up about his unforgettable experience meeting Arijit and recording with him. In a candid and heartwarming moment, Ed shared that his journey to collaborate with the Indian singer was not just about music; it was a true adventure.

Talking about the journey, the Perfect singer said, “It was like a pilgrimage with my dad.” Their day-long trip included a three-hour flight, a five-and-a-half-hour drive, and a whole lot of excitement. Ed couldn’t help but smile as he recalled how Arijit invited him to come for the vocals, saying, “If you want vocals, you have to come to me.” Once they arrived at Arijit’s village, the singer took them around on mopeds, showing them the heart of his world. It was a day full of laughs and memories, and Ed described it as “really fun”.

Locals from Jiaganj from the Murshidabad district in West Bengal were in for a treat as they witnessed Arijit Singh taking Ed Sheeran for a ride. The videos instantly went viral. But Arijit Singh wasn’t the only celebrity ED Sheeran met during his India tour earlier this year. The Shape of You hitmaker also caught up with Bollywood star John Abraham. In a fun moment shared on social media, Ed posted a photo of John donning a football jersey while they posed together. “@thejohnabraham is an @ipswichtown fan now,” Ed joked in the caption, referencing to English football club Ipswich Town FC.  

From mopeds in Murshidabad to football banter in Mumbai, Ed Sheeran’s India trip was packed with memorable moments and cultural exchanges. And now, with Play on the horizon, fans have more reasons than ever to be excited.
