It’s the news fans have waited months for – Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift are engaged.
And while the couple are notoriously private, on Wednesday morning the NFL star’s dad, Ed Kelce, confirmed more details on the big news during an exclusive chat with Today‘s Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo.
When quizzed about when the NFL star got down on one knee, Ed let slip that it actually happened a couple of weeks ago.

“It was a couple of weeks ago that Travis got it done,” Ed recalled.
Ed joked that Travis was under some serious pressure from himself and Taylor’s dad Scott Swift, who had been giving him a few weeks of “prodding”.
The couple shared pictures from the stunning proposal on Instagram in a joint post announcing the news – and Ed also revealed that Travis had been struggling with finding the right way to do it.
He explained his son was trying to find “the perfect way to ask her and to make it special.”
“And we kept trying to tell him, ‘When you do it, that’s what makes it special, don’t fret on where, just get it done.'”

The Today hosts speculated that an engagement was on the cards when speaking to Ed earlier this month and referred to him as “Taylor’s father-in-law”.
“You didn’t pull us up on it last time we spoke, so you knew?” Abo asked.
“That’s right,” he laughed.
“I think I think a lot of us, certainly Travis’s mother and Taylor’s parents, we’ve all expected this for for for a little while now.

“I mean, they’re just so good together, they really are. And and they’re just they’re both so happy … I don’t know that I’ve ever seen Travis happier.”
Ed, who recently lost his partner Maureen Maguire, added that while it has been a rough patch for him personally, she would have loved this special news.
The hosts were keen to see if Ed would spill any more details about their wedding planning.
“I have, as far as when they’re going to do this and where,” Ed confirmed.
“But [I’m] going to go mute on that and let them bring that up when they’re ready.”
On the 26th of August in a joint post on Instagram Kelce and Swift announced their engagement.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married,” read the caption.
The NFL star proposed with a stunning rock, which he designed together with Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewellery in New York City, according to multiple US outlets.
The couple, who have been together for just under two years, first met after Travis tried to meet her backstage at the Eras Tour.
Despite missing out on an opportunity for a meet and greet, the athlete went on his podcast New Heights making it clear he was interested in her.
And, as they say, the rest is history.
