Katy Perry has celebrated turning 41 while on her Lifetimes world tour.
But after sharing some pictures and video of her backstage celebrations with her more than 202million followers on Instagram, the Firework and Birthday singer has copped the ire of fans for what she did to her birthday cake.
Perry, still dressed in her stage costume, blew out candles on her cake and then decided to try and playfully throw it at a man who appeared to be a backstage staffer.

The singer missed and the cake fell to the ground, smashing on the floor as Perry laughed.
Soon after, her dancers laughed and tried to taste the cake, eating it off the ground.
Perry had captioned her post, which also had photos of her in a red backless dress from a night out: “Level 41 ♥️.”

But one user on X who claimed their mother made the cake, was disappointed by it going to waste. But it’s not sure if the user was joking or not.
“My mom was the one that baked this cake, she was so excited about the opportunity to make a cake for Katy Perry and spent so long on it, im genuinely confused and upset as to why she would do this,” they wrote.

Some people came to the defence of Perry claiming it was her cake and it was paid for, while others slammed the singer.
“Imagine being a seven year old whose family couldn’t afford a birthday cake for him/her even though he/she really wanted one for their birthday, then watching this,” one person wrote on X.
“You think Katy Perry cares about a cake?” another wrote.
“Katy Perry is so cringed (sic),” another claimed in part of their post on X.
It comes just days after Perry, who has just split from actor Orlando Bloom, appeared to confirm her romance with Justin Trudeau.
The pop star celebrated her 41st birthday with the former prime minister of Canada, 53, making their first public appearance together on Saturday.
Perry and Trudeau attended a cabaret show at the Crazy Horse Paris to mark her birthday, according to TMZ.
The Firework singer made a cheeky quip, hinting at a romance with Trudeau during her concert in London earlier this month.
“London, England, you’re like this on a Monday night after a whole day at work and a whole day at school?”
“No wonder I fall for Englishmen all the time… but not anymore,” she said, as per The Sun.
She also had a very telling response when a bold fan got up on stage and unveiled a banner that read “Katy Perry, will you marry me?”
She laughed as she rejected the proposal, telling him, “I wish you’d asked me 48 hours ago.”
The comment about “48 hours” was no doubt in reference to paparazzi photos of Perry and Trudeau on her yacht, locked in an embrace and sharing a kiss, that had dominated headlines.
Per the Daily Mail, the photos were taken by a passenger on board a passing tourist boat late last month as Perry was taking a break from her Lifetimes world tour.
