EXCLUSIVE: Ibrahim Ali Khan And Sreeleelas Diler To Release This November

There’s been a fair bit of guesswork around when Diler will actually see the light of day. Filmfare can now confirm that Maddock Films has settled on a window, and it’s a telling one: November 2026, positioned to catch the Diwali weekend wave without stepping directly on the festival date itself.

A source close to the project tells us, “The plan is to release the film around the Diwali weekend. But they’re keeping it under wraps for now. They might announce a date around November 6 or slightly later.” Nothing has been locked on paper yet, but the intent behind the timing is clear enough.

It’s a smart bit of positioning, if it plays out. Diwali weekends have long been the most fought-over real estate on the Hindi release calendar, and slipping in just around the festival, rather than on top of it, is often the difference between getting swallowed by a bigger tentpole and actually finding room to breathe at the box office. For a film that’s meant to course-correct Ibrahim Ali Khan’s theatrical fortunes, that room to breathe matters quite a bit.

Some context is worth revisiting here. Diler wrapped as far back as January, shot across London, Mumbai and Chandigarh, with Ibrahim playing a marathon runner under Kunal Deshmukh’s direction. Maddock has essentially been sitting on a finished film for the better part of a year while it worked out how, and when, to put it out. Given that Ibrahim’s first two outings, Nadaaniyan and Sarzameen, both bypassed theatres altogether and did little to change the conversation around him, a proper theatrical run timed to Diwali footfall is as clear a statement of intent as the studio could make.

It’s also a significant marker for Sreeleela, who makes her Hindi film debut with Diler. She’s spent the last couple of years building a name for herself down South, and this Diwali window hands her a genuine big-screen entry point into Bollywood, well ahead of her subsequent Hindi project with Kartik Aaryan.

Maddock Films is yet to make an official announcement.
