Veteran actress Sharmila Tagore is making a comeback to the silver screen after 12 long years. The actress will be seen in Rahul Chittella’s directorial Gulmohar. The movie also stars Manoj Bajpayee, Suraj Sharma, Amol Palekar and Simran Bagga. The movie will stream on an OTT platform. Sharmila Tagore was last seen in the 2010 film Break Ke Baad starring Deepika Padukone and Imran Khan.
She also mentioned how happy she was that Kareena is currently working on a “lovely film” Laal Singh Chaddha. Commenting on this, she said, “I’m very happy about that because this is the first shoot happening after the lockdown and Saif has just finished another film. So, we are all a family of working actors, and we all enjoy our work.”
In the interview with a leading publication, the actress was also asked about her experience being back in set and if she faced any discomfort. Replying to this, she said that she returned to the set and resumed working like a “duck to water”, adding that it felt painless. She also revealed that the movie was shot in their homes, so it felt very natural. The actress also showered praises on Manoj Bajpayee and added that she was a great admirer of his work.
Sharmila made a statement announcing her return to cinema with Gulmohar. She said, “After a considerable gap, I am very happy to be in the familiar and well-loved ambience of a film set. I agreed almost immediately to be a part of team ‘Gulmohar’- after the moving narration of this heartwarming and beautifully written story. It is a very layered and absorbing family drama and I am sure many will enjoy watching it together with their loved ones in the comfort of their home.”
