No one hypes you up quite like a sister – but even they can’t resist having a dig at times.
The Veronicas‘ Lisa Origliasso is no different from any other sister, publicly congratulating twin Jessica Origliasso on her recent engagement to Alex Smith with a pointed quip about Jessica’s ex-partners on stage at Grapevine Gathering.
In a video shared to Instagram by both sisters on Monday night, the duo, both 37, are seen mid-performance when Lisa shares a backhanded congratulations to her sister while addressing the crowd.

”Jessica Louise Origliasso has finally actually seen it through and gotten engaged!” Lisa’s message to her twin began, which was met with cheers from the crowd.
“We are very proud of her, she has gotten engaged and they aren’t a psychopath or a narcissist.”
“No one hypes you quite like a sister,” Jessica wrote alongside the video, which she shared to her Instagram page and Instagram Story with Lisa.
Lisa commented: “JESSICA LOUISE ORIGLIASSO WE SO PROUD OUT HERE 🍄🙌🏼”
In late September, Jessica announced her engagement with a photo of herself and her new fiancée sharing a kiss as they showed off the matching engagement rings they were sporting, writing: “WIFED. (Still crying a week later.) I’ve waited my whole life for you.”
“I can’t wait to marry you. Thank you to everyone for the love and comments the past week. I’m sorry if we haven’t got back yet, I promise we will xx,” she concluded.
A week earlier, Jessica got down on one knee in the Catacombs of Paris, which she had “closed down” for the occasion.
Smith, through tears, also got down on one knee and proposed to Jessica, who had no idea her partner had also been planning to pop the question.
Jessica and Smith, who is a jewellery designer based in Los Angeles, debuted their relationship in 2021, one year after Jess ended her engagement with musician Kai Carlton after two years of dating.
In October 2020, Jessica told her Instagram followers she and Carlton had separated, and that she “was not afforded any real explanation” for their split and she wished to put their former relationship “behind [her].”
Carlton and Jessica, at the time, had been living apart due to COVID-19 travel restrictions, leaving Jessica in Brisbane away from Carlton in Los Angeles for almost eight months.
”To all the souls messaging me about Kai – we are no longer together,” she wrote on Instagram at the time of the split. “I was not afforded any real explanation to address this with clarity here.”
“While I appreciate your concern, as much of our relationship was on social media, I don’t know what to say except that I wish to put this behind me, and I’m lucky to have people who love me to support me through this time x,” she said, concluding with the message, “Thank you for your ongoing love.”
Prior to Carlton, Jessica was in a relationship with Australian mode, DJ and actress Ruby Rose. The duo dated briefly in 2008, before rekindling their romance in 2016 on the set of The Veronicas’ On Your Side music video.
Jessica and Rose split in April 2018, and Jessica later said on the twins’ MTV reality show The Veronicas: Blood Is For Life that her relationship with Rose was “isolating” and almost destroyed her relationship with her sister.
“Lisa and I didn’t talk for a year. I was in a relationship that wasn’t good for me. I became isolated. I had nobody anymore, I only had my relationship,” Jessica said through tears.
“I didn’t have my mum or my dad. When it became too much for me… I walked away.”
