Irish actor Paul Mescal is reportedly engaged to singer Phoebe Bridgers.
The Normal People star, 26, appears to have confirmed the happy news in an interview with The Guardian, in the most subtle way possible when discussing his decision to leave social media.
“I just don’t think it’s particularly useful for people to see, like, literally you. I thought it’s either get off the bus now or stay on it, and I wanted to get off,” Mescal said. “In 10 years I might rue the day I threw out my social media, but look, it just is what it is.”

However, the publication reported the actor did slide into 28-year-old Bridger’s private messages before quitting social media for good – and that’s how their love story began.
The Guardian then added a small aside, noting: “The pair are reported to be engaged”.
Despite keeping their two-year relationship out of the spotlight as much as possible, the couple began dating in 2020 after a series of flirty public exchanges on social media.

Bridgers kicked it off at the time when she tweeted about watching and loving Mescal on Normal People. He saw her comment and wrote, “I’m officially dead”, to which she replied: “Nooo don’t die your so talented aha.”
They began dating on the downlow before letting fans in on the secret when they shared a cute couple selfie on Instagram in December 2021.

The couple first sparked engagement rumours in May this year when attending a California music festival with a partygoer telling The Sun that Bridgers made it known they were set to walk down. However, the singer was reportedly not wearing an engagement ring.
In a previous interview with GQ magazine, the actor gushed about his romance Bridgers and how it blossomed during the pandemic.
“To have someone to lean on through such a mad, mad time has been invaluable,” he said. “Really, I don’t know where I’d be without her.”
