Aussie jockey Patrick Moloney has married his fiancée Jess Patton in what appears to be a match made in racing dynasty heaven.
The couple exchanged vows in a stunning ceremony in Victoria’s Yarra Valley on Friday – and over the weekend, their family and friends shared photos and videos on Instagram of the event, which they capped off with a dance to the Grease anthem You’re the One that I Want.

Among the guests and serving as a bridesmaid was champion jockey Michelle Payne, who was the first-ever female Aussie jockey to win the Melbourne Cup. Michelle is the bride’s auntie – Jess’ parents are former jockeys Jason Patton and Therese Payne, Michelle’s sister.
“The dream bride,” Michelle captioned a series of wedding photos on Instagram.

The trailblazing jockey – she was the first woman to win the race in its 160-year history – had her life story turned into the biopic Ride Like a Girl, which was directed by Aussie actress Rachel Griffiths and starred Teresa Palmer.
“I absolutely love it. My family loves it, which was the most important thing for me, and I wouldn’t change a thing. I think it’s just absolutely brilliant,” the 37-year-old told 9Honey Celebrity while promoting the film in 2019.
Patrick, who placed runner-up with Emissary at this year’s Melbourne Cup – is among racing royalty himself. He is the grandson of renowned horse trainer and Hall of Fame inductee Jim Moloney. Patricks’ dad Gerard and uncle John are also successful horse trainers.

“‘I’ve showcased my ability in big races that I can ride a great race and execute a good ride under pressure. Also, I can ride light and hopefully more opportunities can come,” Patrick told racing.com after the Melbourne Cup.
“I feel my riding has gone to another level and I’m as committed and hungry as ever. I’m in a great headspace and physically my body feels great and I feel I can capitalise on that.”
But for now, he is honeymooning in Bali for a week with his new bride, with the pair set to return just before Christmas to enjoy it with their family. Patrick then plans to resume riding on New Year’s Day.
