Maroon 5 fans’ interest was piqued this week when a clip suggesting frontman Adam Levine was to speak on a podcast about his alleged affair was teased on social media.
The footage shared on Instagram showed Call Her Daddy podcast host Alex Cooper grilling a guest implied to be Levine about the cheating scandal that made headlines last year when Instagram model Sumner Stroh alleged she had a year-long affair with the married singer.
His band’s hit single, She Will Be Loved, also played in the background, further suggesting Levine, 43, was the mystery guest and about to tell all in his first interview since the scandal broke in September.

“I have to tell you, I was a huge Maroon 5 fan and I’m glad that you agreed to sit down with me today and discuss the scandal surrounding the infidelity in your marriage,” Cooper told the guest, who is not seen on camera.
“How many times did you cheat with women that you met on Instagram?”

But as it turns out, the man in the hot seat was Pitch Perfect star Adam Devine, who is often mistaken for the rocker due to their similar names.
The big reveal was made in a follow-up video, this time with Devine, 39, being pictured on camera.
“It’s Adam Devine – not Adam Levine thank f—ing God!” Cooper said in the new clip, with Devine adding, “Thank f—ing God.”
Good thing Levine’s wife, model Behati Prinsloo, was able to find the funny in the hoax interview teaser.
“LOL,” the model commented under the clip.

The playful exchange between Cooper and Devine comes months after the actor set the record straight that he is not the Maroon 5 frontman.
“Just want to post this and say that my wife @chloebridges and I are doing great and going strong,” Devine, who is married to actress Chloe Bridges, wrote on Instagram at the peak of Levine’s cheating scandal in September.

While Levine looks unlikely to discuss his alleged infidelity on any podcast any time soon, the rocker did release a statement on Instagram Stories.
One day after the shock allegations were made by Stroh, Levine admitted he did “cross the line” with the 23-year-old but they never had an affair.
“A lot is being said about me right now and I want to clear the air,” he began. “I used poor judgment in speaking with anyone other than my wife in ANY kind of flirtatious manner.”
“I did not have an affair, nevertheless, I crossed the line during a regrettable period in my life. In certain instances it became inappropriate; I have addressed that and taken proactive steps to remedy this with my family.”
Levine said he took “full responsibility” for his transgressions and is now focused on Prinsloo, his wife of eight years, and their two daughters: Dusty, six, and Gio, four.
At the time, the Namibian-born model was also pregnant with the couple’s third child. The couple welcomed the baby last month.
“My wife and my family is all I care about in this world,” Levine continued in his statement. “To be this naive and stupid enough to risk the only thing that truly matters to me was the greatest mistake I could ever make. I will never make it again. I take full responsibility. We will get through it. And we will get through it together.”
