Satish Kaushik started his acting career with Kundan Shah’s Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, in which he starred alongside Naseeruddin Shah, Ravi Baswani and Neena Gupta. It was not until 2021 when Neena Gupta’s autobiography Sach Kahun Toh was released which stated that Satish Kaushik who is one of the close friends with Neena had offered to marry her when she got pregnant with Masaba.
In her memoir, Neena said that Satish had suggested that she pass the child off as his after getting married. At that period, Neena had gotten pregnant with cricketer Viv Richards’ and was unmarried, anticipating a backlash.
He told her, “Don’t worry, if the child is born with dark skin, you can just say it’s mine and we’ll get married. Nobody will suspect a thing.” Confirming the same, In an interview with a leading news agency Satish said, “I was concerned about not letting her feel alone. At the end of the day, that’s what friends are for, right?”
In addition, he also stated that his offer of marriage was all an expression of her as a friend. He said, “As mentioned in the book, when I offered to marry her, it was a mix of humour, concern, respect, and support for my best friend in her time of need.”
