As the summer ends, and colder weather (in theory) rolls in, the list of trending movies of the year grows longer. It now includes a few sequels in long-running horror and action franchises. Long-awaited sequels for action and horror series, breathless sci-fi tales, and family-friendly adventures are among the new September 2023 movies that people and groups online are most anticipating. The most interesting movie releases in September 2023 span a range of genres and demographics, from Kenneth Branagh’s Hercule Poirot mystery A Haunting in Venice to the high octane Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan.

After the success of Pathaan, Shah Rukh Khan has delivered yet another blockbuster in 2023. On September 7, the widely anticipated film Jawan was released in theatres. This high octane action thriller was directed by Atlee. The main cast also starred Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Nayanthara, along with Shah Rukh Khan.
Jaane Jaan
The movie is helmed by Sujoy Ghosh and is based on the well-known Japanese novel The Devotion of Suspect X by Higashino Keigo. Kareena Kapoor Khan makes her OTT debut in Jaane Jaan. The story follows a divorced mother whose life is turned upside down in the movie when her estranged husband makes a comeback.
The Great Indian Family
Vicky Kaushal and Manushi Chillar will be seen in the upcoming family entertainer film, which is scheduled to release on September 22. The story, which is set in rural India, centres on the chaos that breaks out in Vicky’s family as a result of unanticipated and uncontrollable circumstances. Vijay Krishna Acharya is the director of the movie.

The Nun II is the ninth instalment in the Conjuring series and is a supernatural horror movie that Michael Chaves has directed. The Nun II also has appearances by Jonas Bloquet, Storm Reid, Anna Popplewell, Bonnie Aarons, and Katelyn Rose.
A Haunting in Venice
Agatha Christie’s 1969 novel Halloween Party served as the inspiration for Kenneth Branagh’s spooky mystery/thriller A Haunting in Venice. It is the third film in the Hercule Poirot series by director Kenneth Branagh. Poirot (Branagh), who is now retired and residing in his own exile, is followed in the post-World War II Venice setting of A Haunting in Venice. Poirot hesitantly agrees to attend a séance, and it is up to him to solve the murder of one of the participants. A Haunting in Venice also features Michelle Yeoh, Kyle Allen, Jamie Dornan, Camille Cottin, Tina Fey, and Emma Laird.
The Expendables 4
The action movie Expend4bles has been directed by Scott Waugh (also known as The Expendables 4). The Expendables squad has returned, and their mission is to stop Suarto Rahmat (Iko Uwais), the head of a terrorist group, from smuggling nuclear bombs that will start a war between the United States and Russia. In Expend4bles, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, Megan Fox, Jacob Scipio, and Andy Garcia join Jason Statham, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Sylvester Stallone, and the rest of the cast. Like the other movies in the Expendables series, Expend4bles has an R rating.
Saw X
The horror movie Saw X, directed by Kevin Greutert, is a prologue to Saw II and a direct sequel to Saw.
