Kate Beckinsale hits back at bullying and plastic surgery claims: ‘Stop now’

Kate Beckinsale has had enough of the “insidious bullying” over her appearance.

The Pearl Harbor actress, 50, hit back at speculation she’s had plastic surgery after online comments claiming she looks unrecognisable.

“I hate talking about this because I hate adding to this conversation, but I’m doing it because insidious bullying of any kind over time takes a toll,” she wrote to Instagram.

Beckinsale uploaded side by side videos of her now versus 20 years ago to her 5.6 million followers to set the record straight she has simply aged.

“Every time I post anything – and, by the way, this has been the case since I was about 30 – I am accused of having had unrecognisable surgery/using Botox using fillers/being obsessed with looking younger, and it’s really such a tiresome and subtly vicious way to bully a person,” she said.

“I don’t actually do any of those things,” the actress confirmed, recalling she even had a plastic surgeon come out and confirm that fact.

“Oh my God PLASTIC, oh my God, you don’t even look like yourself anymore, it happens constantly and it’s usually women that are doing it,” Beckinsale shared.

“Life happens – obviously I have aged, everybody ages; I’m not too concerned about aging…” she continued.

The Serendipity star then opened up about her experience being “completely immobilised” with anxiety and panic attacks and often going to the hospital in her 20s.

“The fact that one of the major things I am bullied about is an assumption that I can’t handle the idea of getting older is so deeply ironic when my all consuming terror was that I never thought I’d even see the end of my 20s,” she said, reflecting on her father’s passing when she was just five years old.

The actress then broke down the difference in her appearance 20 years ago, claiming she was “paler” from living in the UK, plucked her eyebrows, “had a fuller face” and used different makeup products and techniques.

“I’m posting this knowing full well that it will have absolutely no effect. It isn’t going to stop,” she said.

“But I’m also posting it because whatever someone looks like, accusing them constantly of things they haven’t done, or being obsessed with youth when actually, currently I’m obsessed with surviving loss, is bullying.

“Please stop now,” she pleaded.

The star’s candid social media post comes just weeks after she was hospitalised.

Beckinsale posted a photo from her hospital bed with a tribute message to her mother to mark Mother’s day in the UK at the time.
