Veteran actor Bill Cobbs, who had memorable roles in films including Night at the Museum and The Bodyguard, has died. He was 90.
A member of his family, Thomas G. Cobbs, shared the news of Cobb’s death on Facebook.
”We are saddened to share the passing of Bill Cobbs,” he wrote.

“On Tuesday, June 25, Bill passed away peacefully at his home in California.”
Cobbs’ death comes just nine days after he celebrated his 90th birthday with friends and family.
“A beloved partner, big brother, uncle, surrogate parent, godfather and friend, Bill recently and happily celebrated his 90th birthday surrounded by cherished loved ones,” Thomas’ post continued.

“As a family we are comforted knowing Bill has found peace and eternal rest with his Heavenly Father. We ask for your prayers and encouragement during this time.”
Cobbs’ publicist Chuck I. Jones has confirmed his death to TMZ.
The Cleveland-born actor commenced his career in the arts at age 36 – leaving Cleveland behind to pursue his dreams in the Big Apple. Before then he had worked several jobs including as a radar technician in the US Air Force.
A future film and television hadn’t even been on his radar until a customer at one of his jobs as a car salesman asked him if he’d like to be in a play, he told Cleveland.com in 2013.
“I had sold this guy a car, and he asked me if I’d like to be in a play,” he said.
His first professional acting role was in the Negro Ensemble Company’s production Ride A Black Horse. He continued to cut his teeth in the industry with several small theatre and street theatre productions.

Since then he went on to build an impressive portfolio of screen credits. He has made several television appearances on shows like The Sopranos and JAG, he has also starred in several films including Disney’s Air Bud and Rob Reiner’s Ghosts of Mississippi.
Most notably, Cobs played the supporting role of Reggie in the 2006 film Night at the Museum and as manager Devaney in the 1992 film The Bodyguard, alongside Whitney Houston.
