Actor Jackson White has revealed his father, drummer Jack White, has died after a long battle with cancer.
The Tell Me Lies star, 28, announced the news on Instagram alongside various childhood photos and clips of his dad performing onstage.
In the post’s caption, Jackson wrote a heartfelt tribute to his dad, reflecting on his impact on his life.

“This guy taught me everything. We had ups and downs, as a man has with their father,” the post began.
“But in the end it was just love. He was an open book, a fighter, genuinely the funniest person my sister and I knew, and single handedly invented the loudest most powerful back beat of any drummer I’ve ever seen.
“He’s not in pain anymore. And we get to remember him, 6 foot 4 with a denim shirt and a Starbucks muffin, driving us around, teaching us every important song ever written.

“I’m wearing his shoes every day. Not a metaphor he had really cool shoes. Big Jack White. 1954-2024. I love you dad forever.”
Jack was married to actress Katey Sagal, 70, from 1992 to 2000; the pair shared two children, Jackson and Sarah Grace White.
Sagal took to the comments to share a tribute to her ex-husband: “Beautiful Jackson and Beautiful Sarah I will always be grateful to your dad for you! Thank you Jack❤️🙏Finally free.”

In October 2022, Jack shared on Facebook that he had received a “clean bill of health” after battling cancer.
Unfortunately, the disease returned, with the drummer providing friends with an update in 2023: “Just a beautiful day with the 2 most amazing and important people in my life! Sarah and Jackson have shown up for every treatment! Love heals and lasts forever.”
A tribute by his friend shared on Facebook revealed that Jack had: “Lost his battle to Cancer”.
