Boy Meets World star Danielle Fishel has revealed she’s been diagnosed with an early form of breast cancer.
The American actress, 43, spoke about her health battle on her Pod Meets World podcast this week.
Fishel explained she is battling ductal carcinoma in situ (DCIS), which affects the milk ducts of the breast, and said she’s lucky as she caught the disease ”very, very early”.

“So I would like to share something with our listeners … I was recently diagnosed with DCIS… which is a form of breast cancer,” she told listeners.
“It is very, very, very early. It’s technically stage zero.”
She said she was “diagnosed with high grade DCIS with micro invasion” but insisted she was ”going to be fine”.

“And I’m going to be fine, I’m having surgery to remove it,” she said, alongside some “follow up treatment”.
Fishel said that in sharing her story, she hopes people will stay on top of their health checks and mammogram appointments, as that is why she caught the cancer so early.

“The only reason I caught this cancer when it is still stage zero is because the day I got my text message that my yearly mammogram had come up, I made the appointment,” she explained.
“It’s so easy, to say, ‘I don’t have time for that, I was fine last year,'” she said.
She added: “I hope to encourage people to get in there. If you have to find out you have cancer find out when it’s stage zero if possible.”
According to the Breast Cancer Network Australia, ”high-grade DCIS is likely to develop into invasive breast cancer”.
Treatment includes breast-conserving surgery. It is typically discovered via mammograms.
