Macklemore fan swarmed by police moments after on-stage hit social media

A Macklemore fan has been arrested after what should have been a dream experience on-stage with the Thrift Shop singer.

The 24-year-old Slovakian woman, identified only as Samantha, was pulled up to perform with the rapper (real name Benjamin Hammond Haggerty) during his set at Bratislava’s Lovestream Festival last weekend.

A Macklemore fan has been arrested after what should have been a dream experience on-stage with the Thrift Shop singer.

Seemingly delighted by the rare opportunity, the woman danced and sang with Macklemore as he performed Downtown for thousands of screaming fans.

Many of those fans were recording the show and shared footage to social media, but one eagle-eyed festival goer recognised Samantha and contacted local police.

It turns out Samantha had an outstanding arrest warrant against her name and police mobilised to apprehend her.

Moments after finishing her on-stage performance with Macklemore and heading backstage, Samantha was detained by police.

“The woman immortalised this experience and boasted it on a social network, which did not escape the attention of an observant citizen,” the Slovak Republic Police wrote in a translated post on Facebook

“He recognised the woman and found out that he had just seen her on the above-mentioned website and informed the police immediately.”

She was “subsequently escorted to the premises of the institution for the execution of the prison sentence.”

The details of Samantha’s charges were not made public, nor was the length of her prison sentence.

Some local media outlets, cited by TMZ and Rolling Stone, have reported that Samantha incurred an 800 euro fine in 2019 when she went streaking in her underwear at a Slovakian soccer game.

The outlets claimed her legal issues stemmed from not paying that fine five years ago.

Macklemore has not commented on the arrest.

He did, however, post about the downpour that threatened to put an end to his performance in Slovakia last weekend, as wild weather saw the festival evacuated at one point.

“It rained as hard as rain can fall. Lightning vigorously pierced the Bratislava Slovakia sky. The Lovestream festival evacuated,” he wrote in an Instagram post.

“I waited and paced the backstage corridor, unsure if we were meant to touch the stage that night. But finally, just as we had given up hope the festival informed us they were letting the people back in.”

The singer went on to say that ”25,000 beautiful drenched humans” attended his set and voiced how grateful he was to be able to perform.
