British actress and comedian Miranda Hart has surprised fans by revealing live on TV that she recently got married.
Hart, 51, announced the news on the BBC One chat show, The One Show.
The news comes months after she revealed a decade-long battle with Lyme disease that saw her largely retreat from the public eye.
During a TV appearance overnight, the comedian told the shocked hosts, “Well, I can now swap this ring to the other side and say, ‘Someone put a ring on it,'” before they erupted into cheers.

”I got married,” Hart said.
“I got married at 51. And it’s just so lovely.”
Hart, who was the star of the long-running BBC comedy series Miranda, which ran from 2009 to 2015, refused to reveal the identity of her new husband, saying she was saving that news for a new book she has written.
But she did reveal she met “my person” when she was 49.
“And it’s a little undercurrent in the book… I am not going to reveal how we met because that’s a little bit of a twist,” she said.

“But he’s my best friend, we have the best fun and I’m just thrilled to be a young bride at 51.”
Hart’s memoir, I Haven’t Been Entirely Honest With You, is due to be released this month and details Hart’s battle with and recovery from Lyme disease.
“Packed with hard-won wisdoms and gentle truths, this is Miranda’s honest exploration of the lessons she has learned on her journey from illness to recovery,” a blurb for the book said.
The blurb also carried a message from Hart.
“My Dear Reader Chums, you are probably wondering where I’ve been. The truth is, I have been unwell,” she wrote.
“For the last 10 years I have been terribly sick (not hungover!) and barely able to leave the house.
“But I have been slowly recovering, and along the way I have picked up a few, what I call, treasures. Life lessons that have helped me where the medical profession (love the NHS!) unfortunately let me down.

“This is the story of those 10 years, of how I have slowly found my way back to myself, and my entirely honest attempt to share the tips and tricks that not only kept me going, but brought me true health and happiness. Healing and freedom is coming your way!”
According to the Australian government’s Healthdirect website, Lyme disease is caused by the bacteria borrelia burgdorferi, which is spread to humans through a tick bite.
Former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Yolanda Hadid had a high-profile battle with the disease, while a host of other celebrities including Amy Schumer and Ben Stiller have also spoken out about their experiences with the illness.
