Riley Keough has opened up about the heartbreaking moment she had to share the news of her brother’s death with her mum, Lisa Marie Presley.
Writing in Presley’s posthumous memoir, which she helped complete, Keough shared the details of the moment she found out her brother Benjamin had died of suicide in 2020.
”My mother was asleep in her hotel room. I ran to her suite and started banging on the door,” the actress wrote in From Here to the Great Unknown.

“I already knew, clear as day, in those moments banging on her door, that any time I got with her after what was about to happen would be a gift. I couldn’t imagine her living without my brother.”
During a TV special with Oprah Winfrey, Keough explained that when her brother died, she had thought it would be “the end” of her mum.
“They were as close as Elvis was with his mother, and I just couldn’t imagine a world where she would make it without him.” Keough told the TV host.

Benjamin died after throwing a party at his mum’s California home while she was staying in a hotel due to a mould issue.
In her book, Keough wrote that he had gone upstairs around 3:30am to get a drink. She shared that it took hours for other partygoers to notice Benjamin “had gone missing.”
Later that morning, she was told by her mum’s assistant that her brother had died by suicide at just 27 years old.
After informing her parents of the tragedy, Keough and her mum visited the home together.
”What did you do, Benjamin?” Presley said to her daughter after seeing her son’s body for the first time.
Keough explained that Presley went into a state of “shock” for around two weeks, even deciding to keep Benjamin’s body in the house for two months after his death.
”We had to keep the room at 55 degrees,” she wrote. “Before burying him at Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.”
