The much-awaited Malayalam action film Tiki Taka is back on track as filming officially resumes. Directed by Rohith VS and starring Asif Ali in the lead role, the film had to pause production due to an on-set injury sustained by the actor. The director took to his social media on April 2 by sharing a Ghibli-inspired image of the film’s lead star in character with the caption, “Guess who just dribbled past a ligament tear? Denver’s back, April’s here, and it’s time to kick off the shoot—along with some epic action.”
Asif Sustained An Injury During The Film’s Shoot
The setback occurred in November 2023, during the filming of an intense action sequence in Kochi. Asif Ali suffered a knee injury that required immediate medical attention. He was hospitalized and underwent surgery for ligament and meniscal repair in his left knee. After a period of recovery and physiotherapy, he was discharged after a few weeks.
Despite the delay, Tiki Taka continues to generate excitement, thanks to its ambitious action sequences and gripping storyline. Reports suggest the film will feature around a dozen high-energy fight scenes, with Asif Ali undergoing extensive physical training to prepare for his role. His dedication to the character has been evident from his transformation for the film.
The Cast And Crew Of Tiki Taka
Director Rohith VS, known for Adventures of Omanakuttan and Iblis, reunites with Asif Ali for this project. Tiki Taka is said to incorporate elements of mystery while delivering high-octane action, drawing comparisons to a modern Sherlock Holmes-style narrative.
The movie boasts a talented cast including Wamiqa Gabbi, Lukman Avaran, Sanchana Natarajan, Harisree Asokan, and Santhosh Prathap. Behind the scenes, the film brings together cinematographer Sony Seban, editor Chaman Chakko, and music composer Dawn Vincent to craft a visually compelling and immersive experience.
