My son (Mark Shankar) is undergoing bronchoscopy treatment under general anesthesia: Pawan Kalyan

That Andhra Pradesh’s deputy Chief Minister and actor Pawan Kalyan’s younger son Mark Shankar met with a fire accident in his school on Tuesday morning in Singapore is known. The seven-year-old suffered injuries to his hands, legs and reportedly suffered smoke inhalation.  The actor-politician, who has just wrapped up his manyam tour, responded over the tragic incident. Speaking at the press conference on Tuesday evening, Pawan stated that initially he wasn’t aware of the magnitude of the fire accident and damage. He learnt about the development when he was on the Manyam tour.

“Around 30 students (kids) were there supposedly to attend a summer camp. Around 8: 30 AM, I got a call from my wife and also school authorities that a fire had broken out. Unfortunately, one kid died while another kid suffered third degree burns. It’s so disheartening to know such reports. My son had inhaled a lot of smoke during the accident, and he is presently undergoing bronchoscopy treatment,” stated Pawan adding that his son is presently in the hospital and is being shifted to general ward.

“Mark is presently undergoing bronchoscopy treatment under general anesthesia. These kinds of issues may have a long-term impact because of the amount of smoke inhalation that went into the lungs, so it’ll take some time for complete recovery,” Pawan added.

While thanking all those who showed solidarity in this grief hour…Pawan stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured him of all the support from the Indian High Commission in Singapore. On a concluding note, Pawan stated that he is looking forward to his son’s recovery and wellbeing. “I had to cut-shot my four-day Araku trip and I would be leaving for Singapore shortly. There was a construction happening beside the premises and luckily, the construction works were the first one to rescue the kids before the fire engines came to put off the fire,” said Pawan.

And in a gruesome coincidence, Tuesday also happens to be Pawan elder’s son Akira Nandan’s birthday. “It’s ill-fated that today we heard the sad news and it’s an unfortunate coincidence.”
