Director Puri Jagannadh has been criticised after the colossal failure of Double iSmart last year. The action entertainer, starring Ram, tanked without trace at the box office prompting Puri to go easy on his next film. The director who had already been facing a huge backlash after Liger never got an encouraging response for Double iSmart. But he was only banking on the success of the first installment and the franchise. After the film became a box office dud, many have written off the director.
At a time when many were wondering what would be his next film, he recently unveiled his most ambitious Pan-India project, starring the Makkal Selvan Vijay Sethupathi. The director announced the film on the auspicious occasion of Ugadi, and the epic extravaganza will be produced by Puri himself under Puri Connects.

Adding to the excitement, it is now confirmed that actress Tabu has come on board for a pivotal role in the action thriller. Known for her selective choices, Tabu was fascinated and was drawn to the character. The gripping storyline led her to give her consent to be a part of this ambitious project. Tabu was last seen in the 2020 film Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo in Telugu. She played mother to Allu Arjun and the film was a runaway hit at the box office. It’ll be interesting to see how the character unfolds in Puri’s film. After Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha released last year, Tabu will be next seen in the Hindi film Bhooth Bangla.
Meanwhile, according to sources, Puri will present Vijay Sethupathi in a never-before-seen role hitherto, showcasing the actor’s immense range and versatility. The script has been crafted by Puri in such a way ensuring that every character holds significant weight. The narrative is set to be an intense and gripping tale, where each character contributes meaningfully to the unfolding drama. The regular shoot is slated to begin in June.
