A Personal Connection to Pahalgam
In his post on X (formerly Twitter), Periasamy reflected on the meaningful experiences he had while filming Amaran in Pahalgam. He highlighted the area’s natural beauty and the warmth of its residents, calling the location a “gem of Kashmir’s tourism.”
“Pahalgam draws millions of tourists each year, and I have some of my best memories from shooting Amaran there,” he wrote. He further added, “The locals were gracious and supportive, and this senseless violence is a heartbreaking setback to peace and humanity. My prayers are with the victims and their families. Justice must be served.”
Amaran: A Tribute to Bravery
Released in 2024, Amaran features Sivakarthikeyan in the lead role as Major Mukund Varadarajan, a decorated soldier remembered for his valour during a counter-insurgency operation in 2014. Sai Pallavi stars alongside him, portraying his wife, Indhu Rebecca Varghese. The film draws inspiration from a real-life account included in the book India’s Most Fearless by Shiv Aroor and Rahul Singh. Several sequences were filmed in the scenic town of Pahalgam, adding authenticity to the emotionally charged narrative.
