Cate Blanchett has so far received a Golden Globe, BAFTA and Critics Choice Award for her stellar work in the movie Tár, and she’s also tipped to win the Best Actress Oscar next month at the Academy Awards.
But the Aussie star says feels she’s paying the price for giving the performance her all in the Todd Field-directed film.

In a new interview with AnOther Magazine, Blanchett, 53, revealed even her director advised her to take some time off after they wrapped filming on the “all-consuming” psychological drama last year.
“After we finished, Todd, who has become a dear friend, just put his hand on my shoulder and said, ‘You shouldn’t work for a while,'” she recalled.

“Something had happened to both of us through the process of making it. If you’re lucky it happens once, maybe twice in your life … but this was the process of encountering one another and it was all-consuming.”
In Tár, Blanchett plays the fictional Lydia Tár, a renowned conductor with the Berlin Philharmonic who is seen as a trailblazer for women in her industry.
But her career soon unravels when sexual misconduct accusations surface.
After winning Best Actress earlier this month at the BAFTAs, Blanchett got emotional in her acceptance speech as she shared the sacrifice she and her family made so she could take on the role.
“Thank you to Focus and Universal for being such extraordinary partners. This was a very dangerous and career-ending, potentially, undertaking, so thanks for holding their nerve. It does take an army. No one stands up here [alone] – it’s the ensemble … So thank you.”

Blanchett then thanked her family for allowing her to star in the film because it “really did take a lot”.
“It took me away from you enormous a lot. ‘Enormous a lot’, I don’t even know what that means,” she laughed. “But that was the state I was in. So thank you, darling, to my mum holding the fort and my four extraordinary children.”
