Rapper Megan Thee Stallion has hit back at rumours she had a ‘heated exchange’ with Justin Timberlake backstage at the 2023 MTV VMAs on Tuesday.

The Hot Girl Summer artist, 28, squashed rumours by sharing a video of the pair laughing together and appearing thrilled to meet the former NSYNC singer, 42.

“I just talk with my hands lol,” she insisted, adding ”@justintimberlake love ya <3.”

One fan commented underneath: “And people think you’re the problem. Cleared that up real quick.”

In a now-viral video, the rapper and Timberlake appeared to share a tense exchange backstage at the VMAs, which aired in Australia on Wednesday.

In the clip, the musician was having her hair fixed when Timberlake and his NSYNC bandmates – who reunited onstage at the awards show – walked past.

Timberlake appeared to lean in to say something to the rapper, who then pointed her finger at the bandmates, appearing to speak angrily.

The Mirrors singer and his bandmate Joey Fatone both laughed in response and continued to make their way backstage.

While viewers thought the exchange appeared heated on Megan’s end, Variety reports an insider source says otherwise.

According to the source, there was “zero fight” between the two singers and instead they had a “very cute” interaction.

“He said, ‘It’s so nice to meet you,’ and she said ‘No, no this don’t count, this don’t count. We gotta meet proper’,” the source added.

“It was their first time meeting and she was excited,” a second eyewitness source told Variety.

It seems like its all love between Megan and Timberlake, who had a big night at the 2023 MTV VMAs, reuniting with his band onstage for the first time in 10 years.

NSYNC, which consists of members Chris Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass, and Joey Fatone presented Taylor Swift with her first award of the night for Best Pop.

Swift, who has previously spoken about her love for Timberlake, couldn’t contain her excitement when the ’90s band handed her the trophy – and some friendship bracelets, thanks to Bass.

“I had your dolls. Like, are you doing something? What is going to happen now?” Swift asked the group, voicing everyone’s thoughts if this meant the band would reunite for more than just a quick TV appearance.

“They’re going to do something, and I need to know what it is,” she said.

Taylor cleaned up big at this year’s VMAs, taking home a staggering nine awards, including the biggest honour of Artist of the Year.
