Thomas Mars had one very special fan cheering his Paris performance on from home.
Mars and his band Phoenix took to the stage for the 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony. The Frenchman is the lead singer of the indie band, which was formed in 1995.
While the musician’s daughter Romy – whom he shares with Hollywood director Sofia Coppola – wasn’t in Paris, she still tuned in to support her famous dad and watch his band’s live performance in their home country on the TV.

The 17-year-old posted a snap of her dad on the TV screen to her Instagram story.
“Dad playing at the Olympics wowowowowow,” she wrote in awe.
The French band opened their Olympics performance at the Stade de France with their hit track Lisztomania and later sang If I Ever Feel Better.
They were joined on stage mid-performance by Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend to perform Tonight.
The performance also had a special cameo from French musician DJ Kavinsky and singer Angèle to perform the song Nightcall.
The frontman’s daughter shared another clip of her dad rocking out onstage and throwing his jacket into the crowd at one moment from his Paris appearance.

“Love and miss u rockstar,” she sweetly wrote.
Romy is the only child of Mars and his longtime wife, American film director and screenwriter Coppola.

Coppola is known for her work on films such as Marie Antoinette, The Virgin Suicides, and more recently Priscilla starring Australia’s very own Jacob Elordi as Elvis Presley.
Mars has been married to Coppola since 2011 and welcomed daughter Romy in 2006.
Romy is also the granddaughter of famous American director Francis Ford Coppola.
The 17-year-old recently made an appearance in the South of France for the 2024 Cannes Film Festival in May, marking her red carpet debut.
The Hollywood offspring joined her famous grandfather on the Cannes carpet for the screening of his film Megalopolis.
