It has been more than a decade since the release of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, and it remains one of the most loved films by fans across all age groups. Its theatrical re-release only proved its timeless appeal. The film also saw brothers Aditya Roy Kapur and Kunaal Roy Kapur share the screen for the first time. In the last 13 years, they have not collaborated again. Filmfare caught up with Kunaal, where he spoke about the love YJHD received and also the experience of sharing the screen with Aditya. He revealed whether they will be seen together on screen any time soon. On being asked which YJHD co-star was the most fun to work with out of Ranbir Kapoor and Aditya, Kunaal answered, “Well, honestly, I didn’t work much with Aditya. We just had one scene together. And I have to say, it was a little awkward because I’ve never acted with him on stage or anywhere before.”

The actor continued, “It was weird because you have your ways on set. It was just strange to be acting with my brother. And it lasted all of one evening. There’s only one scene where I go and hug him when I come out of the swimming pool. That’s the only scene we have together. We don’t have any other scenes together. We’ve never acted together before or since.”

Despite their effortless chemistry in YJHD, the duo hasn’t collaborated on a film post it. When asked whether they have discussions about the possibility of a collaboration, Kunaal added, “No, we don’t. We’ve all carved our own spaces. We might work together, I’m not saying we won’t. We could but it’s never been a project in that sense.”

Kunaal Talks About YJHD’s Re-Release
The actor was overwhelmed on seeing the response the film got upon its re-release. Kunaal shared, “It feels great. The film has found a way into people’s hearts. It is a film that is loved and cherished by so many and multiple generations. It’s grown its audience base over the last ten years, which is amazing for a film to do that and have that longevity. But it doesn’t happen with a lot of films. You will have a handful of films that have this kind of nostalgia value. It’s a privilege to be a part of a film like this. I got great roles because of it.”
Kunaal Roy Kapur was recently seen in Bandish Bandits season 2.
